MEET THE CASS COUNTY ROAD COMMISSIONERS

Chairman, LeRoy Krempec from Edwardsburg  574-343-3441

LeRoy was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana attended Kansas State University and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.  He and wife Nancy, a retired school teacher from Elkhart Community Schools have two grown sons, and three grandsons.  Michael is a pharmacist with CVS and Jeffrey is an Orthopedic Surgeon in Charlotte, North Carolina.  LeRoy is a member of the Mason Township Planning Commission and on the Board of Review.  His hobbies include woodworking, fishing and golf.  

Vice Chairman, Robert W. Powers from Marcellus  269-646-7155

Married and the father of two grown children, Bob graduated from Marcellus High School and holds
a B.S. in Education and Vocational Agriculture, majoring in Animal Husbandry, from Michigan State University.  Former owner and operator of a 270 acre sod farm, and insurance agent for 40 years.
He served in the U.S. army during the Korean Conflict and has served as board member for the
Marcellus Township as Treasurer, Lewis Cass Intermediate Schools, Cass County Board of
Commissioners.

Member Clifford E. Poehlman from Cassopolis  269-445-2121

Appointed in 1991, he resides with  his wife, Mary,  in  Howard Twp.  In partnership with his sons, Greg and Kent, Mr. Poehlman  farms approx. 1500 acres and has a marl and lime spreading service.  A veteran of the US Army, he has served on the Howard Twp Zoning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.  A member of the Cass Co Farm Bureau for 40 years, he was President of that organization for 4 years and a member of the Board of Directors for 6 years.

The Commission meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month in the offices located at 340 North O'Keefe St, Cassopolis, MI 49031.  Regularly scheduled meetings begin at 9:00 a.m.  Special meetings are posted and advertised as required by law.  Individuals wishing to meet with the Commission are encouraged to call the Clerk of the Commission at 269-445-8611 to be placed on the agenda to discuss their interests.
