All new and resurfaced existing driveways require a driveway permit. Most townships will require a valid driveway permit before issuing a building permit. To obtain a driveway permit, contact the Permit Department at 1-269-445-8611. 

Fill out application, submit with proper payment and insurance certificate. No driveway permits will be accepted without the proper insurance certificate. Stake the center of the proposed driveway. Road Commission personnel will inspect the site and determine if a culvert is need.

RESIDENTIAL:                        Permit fee $50.00

Insurance certificate for $300,000 General Liability Insurance with Cass County Road Commission as certificate holder.

Standard culvert installation (12" x 24') including labor, gravel and culvert $500.00. If other than standard installation is required, you will be quoted a cost.

COMMERCIAL:                            Permit fee $100.00

Insurance certificate for $300,000 General Liability Insurance and must name Cass County Road Commission, Commissioners and employees as additional insured.

Culvert installation will be quoted.

Permits are not valid until signed by the Board of Road Commissioners for Cass County. The Commission meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. A signed copy of the permit will be mailed to you.
