DUST CONTROL PROGRAM

The Cass County Road Commission participates jointly with the townships in a program for the treatment of gravel roads with dust control material. There are two applications of Calcium Chloride material and three applications of Brine. The first treatment is generally scheduled for late May or early June the second treatment late July or early August, and the third treatment of brine in late August or early September (dependent upon the weather).

A list must be received by each township wishing to participate in the dust control program on or before May 1,  to be eligible for the applications.  Any list received after May 1, but on or before July 1, will be eligible for second and third applications only. Any list received after July 1, will NOT be eligible for dust control treatment under this program.

The gravel roads are graded prior to the application of dust control material (unless a specific request is received not to do so). The minimum application is 300 ft and is centered at the property owner’s address unless specific written request (through the township) is received to place it differently.

Each treatment is specified in spot or continuous lengths of at least 300'. Additional increments of  application are in 100' lengths.

NO requests for application are accepted by the Cass County Road Commission. Request must be made through the township in which the property is located. Each township has requirements and deadlines for participation in this program and you must contact your township official to request dust control application.

Private driveways and private roads are not eligible to be included in this program. You MUST contact the dust control provider at your convenience.
