Cass County has approximately 496 square miles with a population of 52,000 people. Within Cass County public road system there are paved roads and graveled. The Cass County Road Commission has the responsiblity for the constuction and maintenance of all 1014 miles of these public roads and bridges located within the road system. The county is approximately 24 miles wide by 22 miles deep with Cassopolis headquarters situated in the middle of the county. At the direction of the townships, the Road Commission also constructs and improves county local roads.

Major trunk lines, maintained by MDOT, includes US-12, M-60, M-62, M-51, and M-40.
 
Cass County is the 10th smallest county in Michigan. It is only one of three counties in Michigan to own and operate its own asphalt plant and have an open air mining operation producing its own sand and gravel.

The work of the Cass County Road Commission includes not only snow removal and road repair, but also the upgrading and building of new and existing roads to current standards.

 

 

Holiday Schedule:

New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day,Friday before Labor Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.

If a holiday falls on Sunday then Monday shall be considered the Holiday and if the holiday falls on Saturday then Friday shall be considered the Holiday. In the case of Christmas Eve Day, the holiday shall be designated to be the preceding workday before the Christmas Day Holiday.

For the 2012 year:  

                   We will be OPEN on July 4th, but CLOSED on July 5th

                  CASS COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION WILL BE  SHUTDOWN
